Chemical Peels are a deeper level of exfoliation, used in dermatological or medical aesthetics utilizing an acid to remove the superficial layers of dead skin in order to promote skin cell regeneration. The result is an improved appearance of the skin and faster turnover of new skin cells leading to healthier and more youthful looking skin.

A range of peels are available to suit various skin types, skin conditions, skin concerns and skin tones. Options will be discussed and a peel will be selected with the clients input, wishes and goals in mind.

Single ingredient varieties include:

Lactic Acid is hydrating, targets dehydration, sensitive skin, or mature skin types. or sensitive skin types.

Salicylic is clarifying and targets oily skin types, congested or problem skin.

Mandelic is better for darker skin tones and visibly improves pigmentation, rehydrates and improves oily skin.

Glycolic is brightening; typically beneficial for lighter skin tones, gives a boost of radiance and benefits dull, tired or lacklustre skin;

Combination ingredient varieties include:

Azelan is a combined Azelaic acid with Salicylic Acid and benefits red, irritated skin with spots.

TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid)

Modified-Jessner – known as “the party peel.”

What to expect

A range of highly superficial, mono-peels, featuring one single active ingredient – have minimal social downtime, with a minimal to mild redness typically subsiding within 1-3 hours – is used to target the main skin type, condition or concern; the peel will be selected accordingly. Suitable to all skin tones. Sensations vary, from a scratchy, itchy, hot or tingly sensation. A fan will be available to help minimize any discomfort. Discomfort levels are typically a 3/10 but vary with each individual.

“Superficial peels” combining two or more acids - are stronger than highly superficial peels - have more social downtime, visible redness and visible peeling are common for 3-5 days after treatment. These peels – and target multiple skin concerns and various skin conditions. Sensations vary, from a scratchy, itchy, hot or tingly sensation. A fan will be available to help minimize any discomfort. Discomfort levels are typically a 5/10 but vary with each individual.

Patch Test is required at least 48 hours before any peel is carried out and can be done at the consultation.
